A warm welcome from the Chair of Governors
On behalf of the governors of East Wickham Primary Academy it is my great pleasure to welcome you to our school’s website for the school year 2024/2025.
As governors we are very proud to be associated with East Wickham and we endorse the school’s “GROW” culture, which encourages and supports children to grow their mindset, their knowledge, their wellbeing, and their character as they move through their school careers.
Throughout this year, governors will continue to try to represent the school’s local community and stakeholders by ensuring that the school meets the community’s needs by providing a first-rate education to the children in our care, whilst also providing support and guidance to their families.
We always welcome constructive feedback from our wider community on how the school is doing, so please do get in touch via the school office if you have anything that you would like to share with us. Governors will also attend school events and some daily drop-offs across the academic year, with a view to meeting and speaking to parents and carers to hear directly their views of the school.
We will also spend time in school every term to help support the work of the school’s leadership and staff, as well as the TKAT Director of Education, to improve our pupils’ educational outcomes. We will meet with the children and talk to them about their learning, making sure they feel safe and happy whilst in school. Finally, we will also help to monitor financial performance against the school’s budget.
Amongst a wide range of achievements, last year we saw that many of our Year 6 SATS results were better than the national average, which was a great achievement and something that the school will build on in the coming year. The children and staff worked very hard to produce some wonderful performances for the children and their loved ones to enjoy. The children were also encouraged to take part in sport, with professional coaches being brought in to support the development of skills in football and cricket, amongst other things.
During last year we also saw continuing huge efforts put in by everyone to improve our attendance across all school year groups. Our wonderful pastoral team have worked tirelessly with our children and their families to remove as many barriers to good attendance as possible. We must all continue to work together to ensure that our pupils attend school and are therefore able to make the most of the fantastic education that is made available to them here at East Wickham.
As governors we are privileged to be working with our co-heads, Mrs Whiley and Mrs Moore, and their leadership team. Together with support and oversight from TKAT, we intend to once again drive standards across the school, to ensure that all our children receive the best possible education, which will ensure they have the best possible chance to shine in their future lives and careers.
Thank you for your continued support for the school. The staff will always offer the best possible opportunities for learning at the school, but we know that the children will only maximise their potential with the support and guidance of our parents and carers outside the school.
I wish everyone at EWPA and all our associated families and supporters the very best for the new school year.
Very best wishes
